The Dalmore has released the third instalment of its Cask Curation Series. This exquisite release, The Red Wine Cask Edition, is limited to just 150 sets worldwide and celebrates and showcases the flavours of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region.
Following on from the release of The Sherry Edition in 2023 and The Port Edition in 2024, the release of the third in the series has been much anticipated. The Dalmore collaborated with Château Mont-Redon for The Red Wine Cask Edition, maturing its whiskies in various casks to demonstrate the incredible impact these precious red wines can have on its New Make Spirit.
The edition comprises three bottles of different-aged whisky: a 24, 34 and 43 Year Old. While aged in different casks for the majority of the meditation period, The Dalmore whisky makers chose to use the same 2023 Château Mont-Redon red wine casks to finish each of the three whiskies which comprise the set, creating the opportunity to clearly showcase how flavour, imparted from these particular casks, can embolden The Dalmore’s spirit and signature house style, at each of the three different ages.

“We are truly passionate about the art of cask curation, and the flavours that can be created with The Dalmore’s unique spirit, when using casks from the finest wineries and bodegas,” said Richard Paterson OBE, Master Distiller, The Dalmore. “Red wine casks have played an integral role in shaping The Dalmore’s success, so it felt fitting to release some very rare expressions, as part of the Cask Curation Series.”
“This has been a wonderful journey of discovery, to see how different-aged and rare whiskies can be subtly enhanced by this red wine,” he continued. “The three Single Malt Whiskies within this edition of Cask Curation Series are, in my opinion, the pinnacle of red wine cask curation.”
The 150 sets, priced at £36,100
, are beautifully presented in handmade presentation cases crafted by Italian luggage makers, AB Florence. The bold lapis blue colour represents the blue hue of the grapes on the vine and pays homage to both the French and Rhône-Alpes flags.
