VIP Ski Confidence Week: Banishing the nerves and putting the fun back into skiing

As we get older, that gung-ho spirit can desert us, leaving us feeling more conscious of risk and injury, even with things we’ve done a hundred times before. VIP SKI has a plan to get nervous skiers back on track with its new Ski Confidence Week.

Responding to guest feedback, ski holiday company VIP SKI has launched its first Ski Confidence Week, to be held in Val d’Isère in April 2027.

The VIP SKI Confidence Week is designed to help skiers who have had experience on the slopes, but find themselves losing their nerve, rather than their ability. Whether it’s due to age, a bad fall, an injury or simply not having been on the mountain for a few years and feeling the pressure to keep up just too much, Ski Confidence Week is for you.

Developed with ski mindset coach Kate Casali, the program starts before guests reach the resort. First, there’s an introductory Zoom session with Casali to help pinpoint what has made the skier lose their nerve. Then, once skiers arrive in Val d’Isère, they attend sessions with Oxy Ski School, combined into two mornings of individual mindset coaching, a group session, and a practical introduction to Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

The idea is to help relieve the fear and self-doubt that affects a skier’s ability to enjoy the slopes, not to push them to become fearless or encourage them to tackle runs beyond their current skill level.

“Skiers don’t have to lose their ability to lose their confidence,” said The Ski Mindset Coach, Kate Casali. “Many know exactly what they should be doing technically, but fear has started overriding what their body knows how to do. The challenge isn’t always learning to ski better. Sometimes it’s learning to trust the skier they already are.”

Guests will stay at VIP SKI’s Bellevarde Lodge in Val d’Isère and will enjoy the company’s chalet hospitality and holiday with the confidence programme running alongside their normal holiday. VIP SKI already takes care of the practical irritations of a ski holiday, including complimentary Geneva transfers, ski hire, lift passes and ski school. Now it aims to help tackle the little voice at the top of the piste saying, perhaps not.

“If 36% of skiers are saying they’re less confident than they used to be, the industry should be listening,” said Andy Sturt, CEO of VIP SKI. “These aren’t necessarily people who can’t ski. They’re people who love skiing and want to carry on doing it but aren’t enjoying the mountain quite as they once did.”

A seven-night stay at No 6 Bellevarde in Val d’Isere for VIP SKI Confidence Week, arriving 11 April 2027, is priced from £1,268pp (save £100 on launch offer) based on two sharing. Prices include chalet-board accommodation (cooked breakfast, afternoon tea, three-course evening meal on six nights with house wines and canapé reception on two nights), free ski guiding, return group transfers from Geneva Airport.

The VIP SKI Confidence Week program includes a short confidential questionnaire for each participant, an individual 30-minute pre-trip session for each participant to help guests identify what feels most relevant and establish a personal focus for the holiday, and one evening with Kate in resort, including a structured group confidence session, a practical introduction to EFT and informal Q&A/conversation.
