Wellness, Refined: A Day at Eden Hall Spa

Surrounded by nothing but open fields and birdsong, Eden Hall Day Spa feels like a well-kept secret — a Victorian manor reborn as a sanctuary where time slows and pressure melts away. What once served as a well-groomed residence — and, more bizarrely, a maggot farm in a past life — is now a refined haven for wellness, stillness, and restorative indulgence.

Whether you’re seeking a post-deadline decompress, a refined couples’ escape, or simply a rare day of self-care, Eden Hall offers the ideal backdrop.

Originally built in 1875 for Robert Middleton, the manor has undergone several transformations before becoming Eden Hall Day Spa in 2002. Today, the building’s elegant bones remain intact, complemented by sleek spa facilities and lush gardens that strike a balance between historic charm and modern luxury.

Guests are welcomed in a bright reception space with a drink in hand — not champagne, but a lightly infused water (though Prosecco is always just a request away). By 9 a.m., the spa is already buzzing, a sign of its reputation as a haven of tranquillity.

Once checked in and wrapped in swimwear, flip-flops and the obligatory towelling robe, we headed into the Thermal Spa. Options here are plentiful, from massage jets and hot and cold waterfall showers to saunas and saunariums, as well as fragrance-enhanced steam rooms and an inviting indoor pool to float your cares away.

Beyond the warm tiles and mood lighting, Eden Hall invites you outdoors to enjoy the relaxing warmth of the hydrotherapy pool, part of its Spa Garden. On a clear day, the warm water and integrated massage jets, along with loungers partially submerged in the pool, make this the perfect spot to linger. Service is sharp too: a quick QR scan brings drinks directly to your poolside lounger once you’re ready for a refreshing top-up.

Dining at Eden Hall is casual, but not careless. The Vinery offers relaxed breakfasts, light lunches, and a refreshing pot of tea. For a more elevated experience, the Taste of Eden restaurant — included in the mid-tier and top-tier packages — serves a fresh, well-balanced three-course lunch. Robes are the norm, which feels slightly unconventional at first, but the standard of the food helps overcome any hesitations.

Eden Hall Day Spa: Treatments and massages

For some full-on pampering, we headed to the treatment rooms. Eden Hall offers a range of treatments and utilises carefully selected, luxurious products from brands like Elemis and VOYA. However, I chose a Grown Alchemist Urban De-stress Massage.

The session, lasting 60 minutes, included a full-body massage using some fabulous Grown Alchemist products, followed by a pressure point foot massage and cryotherapy rollers to invigorate the circulation in the feet and calves. And it was wonderful.

Eden Hall Day Spa packages
