Hilton is getting into bed with Explora Journeys, bringing high-end ocean travel into the Hilton Honors ecosystem for the first time. The collaboration marks the launch of Hilton Honors Adventures, an expansion of Hilton’s loyalty programme aimed at more experiential, destination-led travel, including the ability to earn and redeem Hilton Honors Points on Explora Journeys sailings.
Explora Journeys is the luxury ocean travel arm of the MSC Group and positions itself firmly at the ultra-premium end of the cruise market. Its ships focus on spacious all-suite accommodation, refined dining, long stays in port and a deliberately unhurried approach to travel — what the brand refers to as its “Ocean State of Mind”. Two new-build ships are currently sailing, with a fleet of six planned by 2028.
This partnership makes sense on paper. Hilton brings scale, loyalty and reach, while Explora offers a distinctly modern interpretation of luxury cruising that leans more towards boutique hotel living than traditional cruise ship life. The promise is simple enough, with Hilton Honors members soon able to “stay at sea” while remaining within a familiar loyalty framework.
That full earn-and-burn functionality doesn’t arrive until summer 2026, but Hilton and Explora are offering a long preview window in the meantime. Until 7 June 2026, Hilton Honors members can book any Explora Journeys itinerary, with a curated set of 16 sailings highlighted as part of the launch. These voyages span the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean and beyond, and come with a package of exclusive extras intended to signal the direction of the partnership.
Those extras include 100,000 bonus Hilton Honors points per suite, onboard Journey Experience Credits, and an in-suite welcome gift. On the surface, it sounds generous. In practice, the value is more nuanced. We tend to value Hilton Honors points at around 0.4p each (although it’s relatively easy to exceed that value on carefully planned luxury hotel redemptions), so that 100,000-point bonus equates to roughly £400 in real-world redemption value, which is modest when set against the cost of an Explora Journeys suite. This is not a points-led deal in the way frequent travellers might expect from airline or hotel promotions.
Where the offer carries more weight is in the onboard credits, which can be used for dining, wine experiences, spa treatments, destination excursions, and suite upgrades. For travellers who are already on board with Explora’s style of cruising, those credits, combined with early access via Hilton, will likely feel more meaningful than the points themselves.
Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys, describes the partnership as a meeting of “two brands committed to thoughtful travel, meaningful connection, and deep discovery” that gives guests “the time and space to slow down, choose intentionally, and feel truly in tune with their surroundings.”
Hilton, meanwhile, sees it as a natural extension of loyalty into more immersive forms of exploration, with Hilton Honors Adventures also encompassing experiences such as its partnership with outdoor hospitality brand AutoCamp.
For Hilton Honors’ 235 million members, the move opens up a very different way to engage with the brand. For Explora Journeys, it provides exposure to a vast, global audience that may not yet have considered luxury ocean travel, or may have actively avoided cruising altogether.
This isn’t about chasing points or gaming a loyalty programme. Instead, it’s about positioning cruise travel as a credible extension of modern luxury hospitality.
