Fettercairn Distillery has collaborated with local brewery, Six°North, for the launch of its inaugural Distillery Exclusive single malt whisky, Distillers’ Secret.
Fettercairn Distillery was founded on Fasque Estate at the foot of the Cairngorm mountains in 1824. Known for its innovative approach to whisky making and its light, tropical flavours, Fettercairn Distillery has teamed up with Six°North, based in the neighbouring village of Laurencekirk, to create a unique whisky for a very limited batch of just 318 bottles.
Distillers’ Secret, a whisky that demonstrates the close connection between the distillery and the local community, uses two casks which were hand-selected by Distillery Manager, Stewart Walker and Distiller Bruce Aitken.
The first cask is an ex-Cabernet Sauvignon cask from Bordeaux, which was used to age a fruity Belgian-style pale ale made by the team at Six°North Brewery. Having aged the ale, the cask was filled with a Fettercairn whisky, distilled in 2007, from a refill American oak hogshead. Once in the cask, the spirit was closely monitored as it matured for 4 years, until it was blended with a 2007 1st-fill ex-bourbon barrel in 2025.

Limited to just 318 bottles, this isn’t one you’ll want to miss.”
Fettercairn and Six°North have shared knowledge and explored flavours to create a unique single malt whisky through a collaboration that aims to inspire future distillery exclusives.
Bottled at an ABV of 54.9%, the spirit has honey, Muscat grapes, sugared almonds and soft spices on the nose. On the palate, caramelised pecans, grapefruit and passion fruit mingle with mixed citrus peel, bringing some of the tropical notes Fettercairn is famed for. All of this leads to a lingering finish with notes of mango, sweet brioche and floral hints.

in collaboration with Six°North, is available now and retails at £125. The spirit will only be available to purchase from Fettercairn Distillery.
