Get Interactive at The Twenty-Sided Tavern

Finally, playing D&D has moved out of the realm of the Geek, and is now a cultural and comical experience, thanks to The Twenty-Sided Tavern. As part of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, role-playing games are colliding head-on with interactive theatre, creating an experience like no other.

The Twenty-Sided Tavern

The show has had sell-out shows in New York, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, and makes its UK debut at the Pleasance Dome this August. Theatre-goers-cum-adventurers simply scan a QR code with their phones as they enter the theatre and, as the story progresses, choose their heroes, battle monsters, and solve riddles to influence the unfolding narrative.

The audience is collectively responsible for the decisions that direct the story through myriad different twists and turns, which the actors embrace to create a unique show every time. With no apps to download, or space taken up on the phone, everything happens in real-time with no delays or stuttering, providing a seamless interactive experience.

Using the web link, the audience can control anything from the roll of a dice to a vote on the direction of the quite complex storylines that develop as the show progresses. They can also play games and battle in teams, with each result impacting the developing storyline.

But what deadly secrets lie in the depths of this ever-changing labyrinth? Join the audience this August and embrace that inner D&D-loving youth to find out.
