The historic Cameron House Hotel, nestled in the heart of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, has re-opened its doors after being destroyed by a fire in 2017. The newly refurbished hotel promises a touch of luxury, with 116 guest rooms and 24 suites, all individually designed.
The main hotel building dates back to the 17th century. This former baronial mansion is now fondly known as The Auld House and is home to 14 suites, complete with furnishings and designs influenced by Glasgow-based Timorous Beasties. There are also traditionally styled touches, including cashmere throws by Scotland’s second oldest family business, Johnstons of Elgin. From duplex apartments to one-bedroom suites, guests residing in the Auld House will enjoy enhanced amenities, including in-suite check-ins and chauffeur transfers.
The resort’s most exclusive rooms, The Cameron and The Tower Suites, are perfect for entertaining, with light and airy spaces which take design inspiration from the hotel’s natural setting. Each features furnishings that mirror the rich colour palette of Loch Lomond; the 110sqm Cameron Suite, a duplex penthouse with two separate terraces, provides stunning views of the lakeside surroundings. The double-height space embraces Scottish elegance and features its own private bar.
The Tower Suite, located in the original mansion tower, captures a charming colour palette of greys and warm golds and is the perfect place to unwind and soak up the surrounding views. Guests staying in both the Cameron and the Tower Suites can also take advantage of a complimentary private Champagne cruise around Loch Lomond during their stay.
Initially greeted by the hotel’s new grand foyer, guests can browse the library, complete with signature Timorous Beastie’s wallpaper, and relax in the Lobby Bar featuring a grand marble-top bar, where they can enjoy champagnes, cocktails and afternoon teas.
The Cameron Leisure Club and The Tavern Bar are also on-site, offering state-of-the-art gym facilities, and a space to relax and enjoy a bite to eat after your workout or watch sports on the big screens.
The wider Cameron House Resort
is also home to a spa complete with a rooftop infinity pool, an 18-hole championship golf course, and a 234-berth marina. Guests can enjoy an array of water activities along the banks of Loch Lomond, including speed boat and jet-skiing trips, kayaking and katakana excursions, as well as peaceful paddle boarding, freshwater fishing, or champagne cruises onboard the Celtic Warrior.
With 400 acres of majestic countryside on its doorstep, Cameron House also has fabulous views of the beautiful Scottish landscape. Visitors can enjoy the stunning surroundings while riding the scenic bike trails, pony trekking, experiencing 4×4 off-road driving adventures and Segway safaris, as well as picturesque walks and hikes curated by the hotel’s leisure and events team.
Drawing on inspiration from the hotel’s new décor and reimagined suites, Johnstons of Elgin has developed a bespoke tartan, the Cameron House tartan, which offers an instant sense of Scottish heritage with a modern edge. Its colours perfectly reflect the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and heather-dappled glens. The tartan will feature throughout the uniforms of the concierge and kilted doormen, as well as the front of house, guest relations and food and beverage teams.
