Virgin plans new Moroccan retreat just outside Marrakech

Virgin Limited Edition is expanding its Moroccan footprint with the announcement of a new luxury hotel just outside Marrakech, set to open in 2027.

The 37-suite property will sit within a 10-hectare private estate, surrounded by citrus orchards, olive groves and working farmland, offering a quieter alternative to the energy of the Medina while remaining just 25 minutes from the city centre.

Designed to reflect traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and Berber influences, the hotel will form part of a wider development in partnership with local real estate group Sazanes Immobilier.

A slower, more immersive Marrakech

The new estate is positioned as a retreat-style escape, with a focus on space, nature and locally rooted experiences.

Guests can expect three restaurants, a Chef’s Table and a speakeasy-style bar, with much of the produce sourced directly from the surrounding land. A traditional hammam, 40-metre swimming pool and a programme of outdoor activities — including tennis, padel and horse riding — will form part of the wider offering.

The property will also host curated cultural experiences, alongside a flexible events space designed to showcase work from Moroccan and African artists.

Twin-centre potential with the Atlas Mountains

The new hotel will sit around an hour from Kasbah Tamadot, Virgin’s existing retreat in the Atlas Mountains, opening up the possibility of a twin-centre stay combining city access with a more remote mountain escape.

Joe Margison, CEO of Virgin Hotels Collection, said the project builds on Morocco’s long-standing reputation for hospitality.

“Morocco has an incredible heritage of hospitality, and we are excited to bring our approach of offering exceptional experiences and service with soul to a second Moroccan setting,” he said.
