L+R Hotels is increasing its portfolio of properties with The Mole Resort, which is set to open in summer 2023. The £15 million investment will add another UK-based location to the group, which currently has properties in Continental Europe, the US and the Caribbean, as well as the UK — including Chewton Glen and Clivedon House.
Set in 125 acres of beautiful Devon countryside, near the River Mole, with Exmoor and the stunning coast (both Jurassic and Atlantic) nearby, The Mole Resort saw the launch of the first 15 luxury eco-conscious lodges in September 2022 and is set to add another 43 by the time the resort opens fully in the summer. Besides adding more lodges, Highbullen Hotel, which shares the site, has undergone a complete refurbishment and will relaunch under the same brand, The Mole.
Guests will be able to choose a luxury hotel room, from £80 per night, or one of the thermowood-clad self-catering luxury lodges, from £73 per person per night (based on eight people sharing), depending on the type of break they are looking for. All of the lodges have a balcony deck and hot tub outside, a fully-equipped kitchen and well-appointed, comfortable bedrooms and living quarters inside.
Adrian Bradley, leading the project for L+R Hotels, said: “Our simple message is ‘fabulous stays and active days’, which is exactly what The Mole Resort is all about. Not only will our guests be able to relax in their lodges surrounded by spectacular countryside views, but there’s plenty for them to do too. From swimming, fitness classes, golf and tennis to pickleball and trout fishing, it’s the perfect place for families, groups and couples to do as much or as little as they like, and our resort team can’t wait to welcome them.”
While the lodges are self-catering, guests can always opt for a night off and book into one of the resort restaurants to experience the best seasonal locally-sourced ingredients that North Devon has to offer.
