Signia by Hilton La Cantera in Texas marks Hilton’s 9,000th opening

Hilton has opened its 9,000th hotel, the Signia by Hilton La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas. Since passing 8,000 hotels just a year ago, Hilton has maintained a near-constant momentum, opening nearly three new hotels per day.

“Reaching this milestone of 9,000 hotels is a powerful testament to that commitment,” said Christian Charnaux, Hilton’s executive vice president and chief development officer. “Our brands consistently deliver industry-leading performance for our owners, which enables us to deploy our brands — both existing and new — into markets around the world every day.”

Signia by Hilton: A brand built for events

Signia is one of Hilton’s 24 brands, positioned to serve travellers alongside the conference and event market. Its properties are built with oversized ballrooms, abundant meeting rooms, food and beverage capacity for large groups, and full spa and wellness offerings.

Despite launching in 2019, only a handful of Signia properties have opened so far: Orlando (at Walt Disney World, with over 1,000 rooms), Atlanta, San Jose, Amman (Jordan), and now La Cantera. Another is slated to open in Indianapolis soon.

La Cantera: A resort and meeting powerhouse

La Cantera shows off what Hilton has in mind for its Signia brand. Perched among the oak-dotted hills of Texas Hill Country, the resort promises to bring together luxury amenities and serious event capacity.

It offers more than 140,000 square feet of flexible meeting and conference space, making it a natural fit for conventions and corporate gatherings, while also catering to leisure travellers with a championship 18-hole golf course, a luxury spa, and multiple outdoor pools.

Dining is just as varied, with four restaurants and five bars covering everything from casual fare to signature experiences.

Since opening, the property has already begun attracting attention: in the 2025 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, La Cantera was voted the eighth best resort in the Southwest, highlighting both its appeal to leisure travellers and the strength of Hilton’s newest luxury brand.

With dedicated wellness programmes, children’s activities, and spaces ranging from boutique-style villas to an exclusive adults-only floor, La Cantera positions itself as both a destination resort and a large-scale events hub — exactly the blend Hilton created Signia to deliver.

Before booking, check rates carefully, though. As is becoming increasingly common, especially in the US, there’s a mandatory resort charge that wraps in extras such as Wi-Fi, local transfers, golf bag storage, and recreation access.

Hilton: An expanding global footprint

Hilton’s pipeline shows no signs of slowing. It now operates over 1,000 properties in both the Asia Pacific and EMEA regions, and more than 6,000 in the US. Ambitious growth targets remain, including a tenfold expansion in India, a tripling of rooms in Africa, and a quadrupling of supply in Saudi Arabia. With over 3,600 hotels under development, Hilton is leaning into an aggressive build and conversion cycle.

For Hilton, 9,000 is just a waypoint.
