Founded in 1923, NasonMoretti specialises in producing high-end glassware and decorative table objects. Angus Taylor takes a look behind the scenes.

Umberto Nason founded the company almost 100 years ago, and it’s still run by his descendants, many of whom are heavily involved in the business.

The factory, situated on the island of Murano, just a short boat trip across the lagoon from Venice, is renowned worldwide for the quality of its glass manufacturing. Every single piece is still blown and shaped by hand by skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques that have remained unchanged for the past 100 years.

But, while the company embraces its past, it’s not afraid to be innovative. The products recently manufactured by NasonMoretti are characterised by the abandonment of standard Murano production methods and by an innovative treatment of glass which creates a new aesthetic effect.

Thanks to this new processing, NasonMoretti has the merit of creating pure, clean forms enhanced by contrasting white and coloured surfaces, introducing an original touch of elegance in virtually any environment.

With a remarkable spectrum of colours, including 22 shades of green and eight of blue, NasonMoretti attracts some of the world’s most influential designers to its doors. Its client list reads like a Who’s Who of style and elegance, including Tiffany & Co, Hermes, Giorgio Armani, Bottega Veneta, and Valentino, to name just a few.
